Why this topic?

Master the latest Oracle Eloqua updates with our April User Group recap. This post breaks down essential Redwood interface features and design strategies to streamline your marketing automation.

However, reading the highlights is only half the story. We strongly encourage you to access the full webinar replay to see the new navigation and interface enhancements in action.

Making the switch to Redwood Experience

If you are still toggling between the old and new Eloqua interfaces, it is time to get comfortable with Redwood. It is now the default when you log in. Here are some features you will only find in Redwood:

The ‘Ending’ Campaigns Tab

This new view shows campaigns ending in the next 7 or 30 days—super helpful for extending campaigns before they close (much easier than trying to reactivate after the fact). You will find it alongside your Active, Scheduled, and Completed tabs.

Template Managers for Everything

You have had email and landing page templates for a while, but Redwood now includes template managers for campaigns, segments, and forms as well. If you are responsible for maintaining these, you can now update templates directly and keep your team’s workflows consistent.

Smarter Navigation

Eloqua now remembers where you were last working and takes you straight there instead of the launchpad. Plus, any column customisations you make will persist across sessions, saving real time.

Email & Landing Page Design Editor tips

Handle missing First Names gracefully

Use dynamic content in your greetings to avoid awkward “Hello, [blank]” moments. Create a rule for contacts with no first name that simply says “Hello,”, while personalising for everyone else.

Optimise images for mobile

Consider using different banner images for desktop (756x300px) and mobile (500x400px) views. Use the “hide on mobile/desktop” toggle to serve the right image to each device.

Build a Content Block Library

If you are repeatedly formatting buttons, adding webinar replays, or including standardised sections like privacy footers, save them as content blocks. This ensures consistency and reduces repetitive work—plus, link tracking stays campaign-specific even when you reuse blocks.

Dynamic Subject Lines

Don’t forget you can personalise subject lines with dynamic content too, not just email body text. Tailor your message based on customer segments, tenure, or any other data you are tracking.

Segments: Power user techniques

Use Eloqua Page Tags for smarter targeting

Instead of selecting individual website URLs one by one, group related pages under ‘tags’ (like ‘Product Pages’ or ‘Resources’). This makes it much easier to build segments around website behaviour and keeps your targeting clean.

Access CRM Opportunity Data

Need to target contacts based on deal stages or closed opportunities? You can access CRM opportunity data via custom objects in your segment filters, making it perfect for win-back campaigns or customer expansion efforts.

Master Include/Exclude Logic

Right-click on any filter criteria to switch between ‘include’ and ‘exclude’ mode. This helps you clean up your segments before campaigns launch (removing unsubscribes, hard bounces, etc.) so your campaign stats stay accurate.

Quick Segment Analysis Tools

Highlight multiple filters and use Merge, Intersect, or Trim to quickly understand overlap between audiences before you launch.

Dashboard deep dive: Fatigue Analysis

We highlighted the Fatigue Analysis Dashboard as an essential tool for monitoring how engaged (or exhausted) your contacts are. This dashboard categorises your database by engagement level over time, helping you identify who needs more communication and who might need a break.

Pro tip from Derek: Take monthly screenshots to track improvement over time. There is no built-in trend view yet, but this gives you a simple way to measure whether your engagement strategies are working.

Finding that mystery Eloqua Landing Page, in Eloqua

If you have ever stumbled across an Eloqua landing page on your website and could not find it in the platform, here is the trick: Copy just the vanity URL (everything before the tracking parameters starting with “?”). Paste it into the landing page search, and you will find it. The universal search can also show you which emails reference that URL.

Eloqua Release Highlights

What’s news? What’s coming soon?

Release 26B details will be shared on 9 April, with deployment mid-May. We do not have much intel yet, but one change to expect: the main navigation menu is moving from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. It might feel strange at first, but it should ultimately make navigation more intuitive.

Have questions or tips of your own?

We would love to hear from you. All sessions are recorded and available for review, and we encourage you to share your own Eloqua wins and workarounds with the team.

Navigation has also been improved to remember recent work and persist column customisations across sessions.

Design recommendations included using dynamic content to handle missing first names gracefully and optimising images for mobile using specific dimensions and visibility toggles. The Fatigue Analysis Dashboard was showcased as a vital tool for tracking contact engagement levels, while a simple vanity URL trick was shared for locating mystery landing pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the benefit of the ‘Ending Campaigns’ tab in Oracle Eloqua? The ‘Ending Campaigns’ tab provides a dashboard view showing Eloqua multi-step campaigns scheduled to finish within the next 7 or 30 days. This proactive tool allows marketing operations teams to quickly extend the end dates of evergreen nurture tracks on the Campaign Canvas before they deactivate permanently, which is far simpler than cloning an ended campaign.

2. Should Eloqua template management include segments and forms? Yes. Centralising template managers for multi-step campaigns, audience segments and web forms ensures true operational consistency across your instance. For administrators responsible for cross-team governance, this setup standardises layout logic, enforces strict data-collection rules and allows you to roll out universal brand updates that keep everyone’s daily Eloqua workflows completely aligned.

3. How do I handle missing contact data in Eloqua dynamic greetings? Using field merges in email greetings can cause awkward formatting if a contact’s e.g. first name is missing. To solve this, configure an Eloqua Conditional Field Merge with Dynamic Content. This rule populates the first name if present, but seamlessly defaults to a clean, unpunctuated greeting (such as “Hello,”) if the field is blank.

4. How should I optimise image banners in the Eloqua Design Editor? Instead of scaling a single large image across all screens, design two distinct layouts: a wide layout for desktop and a stacked layout for mobile. Marketers can use layout visibility toggles within the Eloqua Design Editor to hide the desktop asset on mobile viewports and vice versa, ensuring a tailored, readable user experience.

5. How do Eloqua Content Blocks streamline campaign building? Saving repetitive elements like buttons, webinar graphics or privacy footers as Eloqua Content Blocks guarantees pixel-perfect brand consistency while reducing build time. Crucially, any hyperlinks embedded in these reusable blocks still track unique clicks for individual outbound campaigns.

6. What are Eloqua Web Page Tags, and how do they help? Selecting individual website URLs one by one makes it tedious to build segment filters. Eloqua Web Page Tags let you group related digital assets under a single label (e.g., ‘Pricing Pages’). This makes it vastly easier to build targeted segments around website browsing behaviour while keeping your filter criteria clean.

7. How can I track engagement trends if Eloqua Insight lacks a timeline graph? Analytics tools like Insight Fatigue Analysis offer an excellent live snapshot of database health, but may lack historical tracking. To bypass this, adopt the habit of taking monthly screenshots or data exports. Compiling these figures side by side creates a simple ledger to show whether your ongoing Eloqua strategies are working over time.
