B2B marketers can take some lessons from our consumer marketing colleagues
Templates have been used by Eloqua clients for many years across various areas of the platform, including:
- Email editors
- Landing Page editors
- Segments
- Multi-Step Campaigns
- Form Design Editor
The Email and Landing Page editors have provided a “Template Manager” interface for many years. The template manager enabled Eloqua Administrators and other users with access to create, edit and delete templates.
With Eloqua Release 25B (May 2025) Template Managers were added to Segments, Multi-Step Campaigns and Forms.
Templates Managers help speed up your campaign build time & support brand compliance
The template managers provide you with a central location to manage your templates, keep them fresh and on brand.
I’ve seen organisations experience the most success when a team member owns the management of templates.
This person isn’t always a marketing automation specialist, they may be from the brand team or have a more technical background.
Regardless, having someone to “own” your templates provides a point of contact for feedback and ensures responsibility for optimisation.
According to Litmus, 33% of companies with high ROI from email refresh their templates quarterly.
In their 2025 State of Email Report, Litmus reports that templates are crucial for maintaining brand consistency across different email types and for speeding up the workflow.
They also help guard against errors that can occur with manual processes. Companies with high ROI from email refresh their templates quarterly, highlighting the importance of regularly updating designs to keep them relevant and on-trend.
Templates help speed up your workflow
“Templates are crucial not just for brand consistency but also in speeding up the flow of work.
Templates give marketers, and agents alike, guardrails that improve the speed at which emails can be created and expedites approvals.”
Matthew Schnelker
Product Marketing Manager,
Salesforce

Locking down specific components of your Email & Landing Page templates
The ability to lock down buttons, logos and other components in your email and landing page templates is not new. However, I thought it was worth a reminder.
You can see that the Email Template Manager below and the Protected Content feature has been turned on.
Easily manage & restrict a user’s ability to edit/remove specific components
Once you turn Protected Content on as shown in the screenshot above, all content is locked down.
The next step is to click on various email components, such as the hero image shown below. You’re then presented with the option to allow users to change the content.
A user’s ability to edit the hero image is currently turned off in the screenshot below.
In summary, as soon as you turn Protected Content on, everything is locked down. You then need to go through each component and enable the switch for Allow Changes to Content.
“Email is just one touchpoint in complex customer journeys, making its specific contribution difficult to isolate. For B2B or high-consideration purchases, an email’s influence may not materialize for weeks or months.
Traditional metrics like opens and clicks don’t directly correlate to revenue. Accurate measurement requires connecting marketing activities to pipeline and revenue by integrating marketing, sales, and financial data.”
