What you need to know
- Eloqua users have access to Eloqua Dashboards. These dashboards are designed for the Eloqua Users and are generated from Insight Analytics data. These dashboards are easily accessible and can be adjusted by applying date filters and campaign fields, such as Campaign Type, Region, and Product. Insight Dashboards are separate, fully customisable and are accessed from within Insight.
- Access to Eloqua Insight is available as two user types. 1 – Reporter and 2. Analyzer. The key difference is that the Analyzer user can create custom reports and dashboards. It’s quite normal that the majority of Eloqua users are Reporter users. BI team members and those a little more tech-savvy are typically Analyzer users.
- Insight delivers a wide range of analytical data from your Eloqua instance. Insight is a separate platform from Eloqua. However, you have seamless access from within Eloqua. Insight is built on Oracle Analytics Server, part of Oracle Analytics Cloud.

What can you expect from Oracle Eloqua Insight analytics?
With over 250 out-of-the-box reports, Insight empowers Eloqua users to delve into the details quickly. When you access Eloqua Dashboards or reports from various areas of Eloqua, such as the Campaign Canvas or the Design editors, it’s Insight data that drives what you see.
Metrics & Attributes
To help you create the report you need, it is essential to understand the roles of Attributes and Metrics in your report building process. To start with, Attributes are characteristics of your Oracle Eloqua data. Metrics are qualitative measures of the attributes.
When combined in a report, City is a row and Total Clickthroughs a column. Thus, you can learn about the clickthroughs by city. Attributes and metrics that can be combined are provided in a Subject Area*.

Eloqua Dashboards vs. Insight Dashboards
The Eloqua Dashboards are available to all Eloqua users and are presented in an easy-to-use manner, allowing you to adjust certain variables. You can adjust date ranges and, if you’ve configured Campaign Fields, filter and modify the dashboards using the values assigned to Campaign Type, Product, and Region.
Eloqua Dashboards use Insight data. The key point is to understand that you don’t have multiple sources of analytical data; Insight is the single source and populates your Eloqua and Insight Dashboards.
“Insight Dashboards” are viewed in Insight and are completely configurable based on your specific requirements. Insight allows you to create custom reports (the focus of this month’s user group) and custom dashboards.
Our #1 tip for marketers creating custom Insight reports
Most of us are not experts in Business Intelligence (BI). If you have access to a BI expert in your workplace, you should take them for a coffee and get to know them.
Since Eloqua first arrived as a software platform in January 1999, they have led the marketing automation market for B2B or high-value marketers. Over that period, Eloqua has developed a deep understanding of the expectations and needs of marketers in relation to reporting.
Our #1 tip for marketers when it comes to reporting is to avoid starting from scratch. Find one of the more than 250 out-of-the-box reports, a report that almost gives you what you need.
Then, save-as that report and begin the process of customising it to reflect your needs. If you access this month’s webinar replay, I’ll walk you through the save-as process and provide some navigational tips to help you get the result you need.
*Subject Area: You can see the Attributes and Metrics fall under a Subject Area in the screenshot below.
